The wedding of Nicola Sim and Stephen Tortora

THE COUPLE: Nicola (27) is a dental hygienist therapist from Falkirk and Stephen (26) is a quantity surveyor from Maddiston. The couple live in Maddiston.

HOW THEY MET: The couple met at a Falkirk cruise night in 2004.

THE PROPOSAL: Stephen took Nicola for a spa break at the Turnberry Hotel in Ayrshire in December 2012 and popped the question to a very surprised Nicola. They then chose a ring together. Nicola said: “I think he lived to regret letting me choose!”

THE WEDDING: The couple were married on December 27, 2013, at the Inchyra Grange Hotel in Polmont in front of 110 guests with a further 100 joining them at night. Nicola said: “The weather was pretty wild, but the day was perfect. Everything went smoothly and the service at the Inchyra was incredible. It was the best day of our lives.”

THE WEDDING PARTY: Maid of honour was Marti Haldane and bridesmaids were Stacey MacDonald and Natalie Steele. Best man was Stephen’s brother Billy and ushers Graeme Clark, Stephen Mooney and Nicola’s brothers Fraser and Christopher Sim.

THE DRESS: Nicola wore a strapless ivory dress embellished with crystals with a fishtail and train.

THE HONEYMOON: The couple jetted off to Dubai for four nights, then on to Mauritius for a week. “It was the perfect combination of city break then, very relaxed beach holiday. It was bliss,” said Nicola
