The wedding of Nicola Ibbotson and Struan Robertson
THE COUPLE: Nicola (25) is originally from Falkirk and teaches design and technology in a secondary school. Struan is 28 and a personal trainer. The newlyweds live in Aberdeen.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met in the Aberdeen nightclub, Tiger Tiger, in 2006. Nicola caught Struan’s eye while she was dancing with her friends to Girls Aloud.
THE PROPOSAL: Struan sent Nicola and her mum for a manicure, and, when she returned to the flat, the hallway was lit with candles and Struan was on one knee.
THE WEDDING: The wedding took place on April 5. The ceremony was held at Kings College Chapel at the University of Aberdeen with 120 guests attending the ceremony and a total of 180 celebrated during the evening reception at Norwood Hall Hotel. The day was absolutely perfect. Nicola and Struan really enjoyed the 30-minute Rolls Royce ride to the reception, and the guests loved Nicola and her friends dancing a ‘Single Ladies’ routine.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Nicola’s bridesmaids were Katie McPate and Leah Sinclair, and the best men were Neil Burr and William Skene. The ushers were the couple’s brothers, Douglas Ibbotson and Cameron Robertson. The page boys were Struan’s nephews Issac (4) and Arron (1) Robertson.
THE DRESS: Nicola wore a white, strapless Suzanne Neville gown which was clinched in at the waist with a diamante belt.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple enjoyed a mini-moon to St Andrews but are jetting off to the Maldives and Dubai in the summer.
