The wedding of Melissa and Alan

HOW THEY MET: Melissa and Alan were at Larbert High together but lost touch after leaving school. They met again on Christmas Eve 2012 on a night out in Falkirk.

THE PROPOSAL: Alan took Melissa to Monkey World, the famous animal sanctuary in Dorset, for her birthday. She was admiring a capuchin and turned round to find Alan on one knee. She was thrilled to say yes and with the ring Alan had picked out for her.

THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on March 14, 2015 at Glenbervie House Hotel. There were 92 guests during the day and a total of 168 at night. Melissa said the day was perfect, with her highlight seeing Alan get emotional when he saw her at the top of the aisle.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Melissa’s bridesmaids were Claire McCallan, Louise Toal and Gillian Wright. The best man was Alan’s older brother Gary and the ushers Craig Drummond and Robert Matheson.

THE DRESS: Melissa wore a “massive” ivory dress she bought from Olivia Cameron. She said: “I had wanted something very fitted, more like a fishtail gown, but it didn’t suit me so mum asked me to try on one for her, and that was the one.”

THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent an amazing three weeks in Florida.

THANKS: Special thanks go to the couple’s parents, Adela Fleming and Alison and George Borthwick. Also thanks to Claire Chalmers and Robert Matheson for doing the readings.
