The wedding of Hazel Ferguson and Douglas McFarlane
THE COUPLE: Hazel is 32 and a junior sister at a Falkirk Bupa care home, and Douglas is 27 and an arborist with Falkirk Council. The couple live in Dunipace.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met in May 2009 at a charity night in the Brightons Inn. Douglas was there with a friend and Hazel was there with her aunt. Douglas waited until later in the night before he started chatting to Hazel.
THE PROPOSAL: Douglas caught Hazel by surprise, proposing a week before her 30th birthday over dinner. She said: “I thought he would propose on my birthday, but he did it early.”
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on November 30, 2013, at the Park Hotel. Ninety guests attended the service and there was a total of 150 in the evening. Hazel said it was a wonderful day from start to finish.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Hazel’s bridesmaids were her best friend Leigh Irvine, cousins Ashley Morgan and Arlaena Ferguson, her brother’s girlfriend Laura MacKinnon, Douglas’s sister Heather White, and Douglas’s sister-in-law Tracy McFarlane. The best man was friend Fraser Gallacher. The ushers were Colin Ferguson, Connor Ferguson, Robbie Munro, Campbell McFarlane and Aiden White. Twin page boys were 18-month-olds Calum and Zack McFarlane.
THE DRESS: Hazel loved her 1950s style fishtail gown from Phil Collins Bridal.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds are jetting off to Mexico in January for 12 days.
