The wedding of Fiona Park and Gavin Johnston
THE COUPLE: Fiona (43) is originally from Grangemouth and works as a team manager with Thomas Cook, and Gavin (49) is an electrical engineer from East Kilbride. The newlyweds live in Maddiston.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met in July 2012 at Fiona’s brother’s 25th wedding anniversary party. Both Fiona and Gavin had unexpectedly attended the party alone and got talking.
THE PROPOSAL: Gavin popped the question a few months later when the couple were enjoying a weekend in Paris. They were standing on the balcony of their hotel room, overlooking the Eiffel Tower when Gavin proposed. Fiona said that she wasn’t too surprised as she knew they were meant to be together. She said: “It was a whirlwind romance.”
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on September 2, 2013, exactly a year to the day from when the couple got engaged. The service took place in Zetland Parish Church witnessed by 50 guests, and an evening reception with 80 guests was held in the Inchyra Grange, Fiona said the day was amazing, with entertaining and emotional speeches.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Fiona’s bridesmaids were her niece, Claire Park (22) and Gavin’s daughter Rachael Johnston (20). The best man was Fiona’s brother Angus Park, and the ushers were Andrew Fleming, Fiona’s best friend, and Gavin’s son Joshua Johnston.
THE DRESS: Fiona wore a stunning ivory gown, with Chantilly lace and crystal detail.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple returned to Paris for three days, before spending 12 days in Mauritius.
