The wedding of Catriona Bruce and Andrew Fernie
THE COUPLE: Cat is 30 and an accounts assistant in Grangemouth, and Andrew (29) is a software engineer also in Grangemouth. The newlyweds live in Redding.
HOW THEY MET: Cat and Andrew met while on separate nights out in Falkirk in March 2007.
THE PROPOSAL: Andrew asked Cat to marry him in February 2012. He had taken her to Edinburgh, and the couple had spent most of the day visiting pubs trying to catch the rugby on TV. Cat didn’t think it was a very romantic day – until Andrew proposed after dinner.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on November 7, 2013, in New York. Close family and friends travelled across the pond to watch the couple marry in the Big Apple. Guests enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Hudson after the ceremony at Ladies Pavilion in Central Park. A reception was held in the Grange Manor on November 30 when around 130 guests celebrated with the couple.
THE WITNESSES: The wedding was witnessed by Andrew’s sister Lindsay Miller and Cat’s brother Alasdair Bruce.
THE DRESS: Cat’s dress was simple and elegant and put together by Gill Winters based on different wedding gowns Cat had seen.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple stayed in New York for a week and are going to Greece in May for a belated honeymoon.
THANKS: Thanks to all who travelled to the wedding, and to Lindsay and husband Chris for the wedding cake from NYC’s Magnolia Bakery. Special thanks go to Cat’s parents, Frances and Eric Bruce.
