The wedding of Lisa Porteous and John Somerville
HOW THEY MET: John was Lisa’s dad’s apprentice years ago but, in 2005, he saw her in Storm nightclub and introduced himself.
THE PROPOSAL: John popped the question on June 1, 2011. The couple were at home after John came in from work and he told Lisa he already had her dad’s permission and asked her to marry him. He had a “gorgeous” engagement ring and Lisa said “yes”.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held at Glenbervie House on November 2, 2012. There were 70 guests for the ceremony and a further 80 for the evening celebrations. The day was amazing and the couple loved every minute. Lisa’s favourite moment was walking down the aisle.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Lisa’s sister, Michele, was chief bridesmaid and Natalie Hendrie and Varrie Muirhead were the bridesmaids. The best man was John’s best friend Chris Kennedy, and the ushers were Lisa’s cousin Stephen Hendrie and John’s brother James Arnott.
THE DRESS: Lisa wore a replica of Kate Middleton’s gown by Alfred Sung called Catherine. It had lace sleeves, sweetheart neck and a long cathedral train.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds spent a fantastic five days in London.
THANKS: Special thanks to the parents, Carolyn and Grant Porteous and Julia and Stuart Arnott. Also thanks to all family and friends who made the day so special.
