The wedding of Beverley Wright and Simon Kane
THE COUPLE: Bev is 33, from Larbert, and an account manager at Prudential in Stirling. Simon (34), from Slamannan, is a mechanic based in Camelon. The newlyweds live in Larbert.
HOW THEY MET: The couple knew each other as teenagers but had lost touch until 2006, when they met again in the Maniqui.
THE PROPOSAL: Simon popped the question while the couple were on holiday in Florida’s Disneyland. Bev was completely surprised and wondered if he had just got caught up in the moment, but was delighted when he started researching the wedding when they flew home.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on August 8 at The Vu in Bathgate. The humanist ceremony was attended by 75 guests and a total of 120 joined the party at night. The day went amazingly well and very smoothly. Bev says her favourite moment was walking down the aisle to “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Bev’s nieces, Ellie (9) and Katie (7) Wright were flowergirls, and Simon’s son Lucas was best man, with his second in command being Simon’s brother Ross. Ross and Bev’s best friend Liz Donaghue were witnesses.
THE DRESS: Bev wore an elegantly simple strapless, A-line Rosetta Nicolini gown which she loved.
THE HONEYMOON: They spent five days is Las Vegas, followed by three days in Beverly Hills and a week in Mexico’s Cancun.
THANKS: Special thanks go to Bev’s parents, Helen and Derek Wright, Norah Marshall and Senga and Phil Whelan for all their help and support.
