The wedding of Claire Strachan and Steven Allan
THE COUPLE: Claire (39) is from Falkirk and works at Prudential in Stirling, and Steven (41) is from Dunfermline and is a civil engineer.
HOW THEY MET: The pair met at the Edinburgh Festival two years ago. It was a beautiful sunny day and the couple enjoyed seeing the acts and having dinner together.
THE PROPOSAL: Steven popped the question during a weekend away in York to celebrate Claire’s birthday last year. Steven gave Claire her birthday card and then got down on one knee with a stunning engagement ring.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held at Callendar House on April 28, 2012. Around 70 guests witnessed the marriage and 150 friends and family celebrated with the newlyweds in the evening at The Park Hotel. Claire said that the day was magical and she wouldn’t change a thing. She said: “It was so nice to have all our friends and family there for our big day.”
THE WEDDING PARTY: Claire’s sister Lorna Strachan was the bridesmaid, and the couple’s respective two-year-old nieces, Louise Blue and Faye Allan, were the flowergirls. The best man was Steven’s brother Paul, and the usher was Mark Blue.
THE DRESS: Claire wore an ivory tulle gown with sparkles and beading and a lovely long train.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple enjoyed a fantastic week in London.
THANKS: Special thanks to Claire’s parents, Margaret and Richard Strachan, for all their help and support, and also to dad Richard for helping the couple prepare for the first dance.
