The wedding of Debbie Corcoran and Alan Buchanan
THE COUPLE: Debbie is 25, from Denny, and works at the Inland Revenue in Bathgate. Alan is 27, from Camelon and works for Malcolm Allan. The newlyweds live in Denny.
HOW THEY MET: Debbie and Alan had known each other for years, but got together at a 21st birthday party in Hallgeln six-and-a-half years ago,
THE PROPOSAL: Alan popped the question at Debbie’s sister’s wedding. It was later in the evening and bridesmaid Debbie was dancing with Alan who was an usher. The couple decided to keep the engagement quiet until the next day.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on January 6 - a mere 12 days after the bride was told about it! Alan had organised everything but kept it secret. He told her on Christmas Day and asked her to buy a wedding dress. The event was an intimate affair with just 11 guests.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Witnesses were Debbie’s sister Donna Fraser and Debbie’s stepdad Michael Harris.
THE DRESS: Debbie loved her dress that she purchased in Pamela Jayne’s bridal in Bonnybrige, She said: “I had one hour to pick the dress. It was a dress I didn’t think I’d like, but I loved it.”
THE HONEYMOON: The couple didn’t get away after the wedding but are planning to enjoy a holiday later this year.
THANKS: Debbie says a huge thanks to Alan, her mum Theresa Harris and her sister for keeping the wedding such a great surprise.
