THE PROPOSAL: The animal lovers had just lost their dog Lily and decided not to do presents for Christmas 2012. Marlene said: “I was in floods of tears with the mug, I didn’t even realise there was anything inside, Derek had to take it off me to show me!”
THE WEDDING: The couple were married at the Sandbar in Anna Maria Island, Florida, on September 17, 2014 in front of 12 guests. They had discovered the venue on a previous trip to Florida and agreed it would make the perfect wedding destination. They held a reception at Bonnybridge Golf Club on October 11 for 90 guests.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Best man was Derek’s friend Mathew Foy and bridesmaid was Marlene’s friend Lyn McQueen.
THE DRESS: Marlene wore a short, 1950s style dress with floral embellishments for the beach wedding and a full length ivory gown for the reception at home.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple went to Orlando after their wedding.
THANKS: Thanks to Derek’s parents Theresa and John Bryson and aunt and uncle Jim and May Fallon.
