The birth of Struan Robert James Mitchell
THE PARENTS: Mum Lorna (30) is a clerical assistant in Stirling and dad Graham (27) is a joiner with South Lanarkshire Council. Struan is the couple’s first baby and the family lives in Shieldhill.
THE PREGNANCY: Lorna said the pregnancy was OK. She had some sickness in the beginning but that was all.
THE BIRTH: Baby Mitchell was two days late. Lorna had been experiencing some pain during the day and at 8 p.m. was told to come to the hospital. Struan arrived just a few hours later. Lorna said that dad Graham was an excellent help.
THE BABY: Struan is a fantastic baby. He happily sleeps all night and is continuing to eat very well. He loves songs and stories and has been making sounds of his own when family and friends talk to him.
THE NAME: Lorna and Graham wanted a Scottish name and had picked out a few names they liked, including Struan, for their little boy. However, they wanted to wait until they had a good look at him before they made their final decision. The middle names are after both grandfathers.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Struan is a fifth grandchild for Beth and Jim Brown from Shieldhill and a first for Liz and Robert Mitchell of Strathaven.
THANKS: Lorna would like to say a special thank-you to the Poppy team, the midwives and Graham.
