The birth of Sophie Alana Tetsill

THE DETAILS: Sophie Alana Tetsill was born on February 3 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital at 8.44 p.m. weighing 7lb 9oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Nicola (33) is a medical receptionist in Denny, while dad Kevin (35) is a service engineer. Sophie is the couple’s third baby and the family live in Stenhousemuir.

THE PREGNANCY: Nicola didn’t have morning sickness this time round, but did suffer from pelvic pain and sciatica.

THE BIRTH: Little Sophie was 10 days early. Nicola went in to labour naturally at home, and was only in hospital for 44 minutes before her third daughter arrived. Sophie was delivered naturally and mum and baby were allowed to go home the next day.

THE BABY: Sophie is great. She’s settled, sleeps all night, and takes her bottles very well. She smiles and giggles and likes lying on the floor and being in her nursing sling. She is doted on by older sisters Ellie (8) and Megan (6).

THE NAME: Nicola has always liked the name Sophie. The couple found out they were having a girl during a 3D scan. Nicola also liked Alana after hearing the name being called out at Megan’s school.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Sophie is a fifth grandchild for both John and Angela Brough of Stenhousemuir, and Watty and Liz Tetsill of Stenhousemuir.

THANKS: Thanks go to the grandparents for all their help and support and helping look after the children, as well as to the maternity staff at the hospital.
