The birth of Sinead Elizabeth MacLagan

THE DETAILS: Sinéad Elizabeth MacLagan was born at Forth Valley Royal weighing 7lb 13½oz on May 22 at 7.01 a.m.

THE PARENTS: Mum Donna (26) is an advertising administrator with The Falkirk Herald and dad Sean (28) is a maintenance engineer with ScotRail. Sinéad is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Stenhousemuir.

THE PREGNANCY: Donna described it as okay apart from pelvic pain which forced her to wear a brace during the final weeks.

THE BIRTH: Sinéad was in no hurry to make an appearance and 12 days after her due date Donna had to be induced. However, it wasn’t until two days later that she finally went into full-blown labour. Things didn’t run too smoothly and after eight hours she had to have an emergency caesarian section, but thankfully, both mum and baby were fine.

THE BABY: Donna said: “She is a really contented baby, only crying when she is hungry. She eats and sleeps really well.”

THE NAME: There was no wondering what to call their baby daughter for this couple, they had the name picked for years! Elizabeth is after Donna’s mum who was her birth partner along with Sean.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Sinéad is the first grandchild for both Tommy and Liz McLean of Stenhousemuir and Neil and Fiona MacLagan of Shieldhill.

THANKS: Donna and Sean would like to thank their parents for all their help and support and the maternity staff at the hospital.
