The birth of Oliver John Hughes

THE DETAILS: Oliver John Hughes was born at Forth Valley Royal Hospital on July 11 at 9.48 a.m. weighing 7lb 14oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Kerryann Hughes is 31 and an early years officer with Falkirk Council, based in Denny. Dad Kenneth Hughes (30) is a senior project engineer who works in Edinburgh. Oliver is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Redding.

THE PREGNANCY: The pregnancy wasn’t too bad, although Kerryann did have morning sickness and a few other pregnancy niggles.

THE BIRTH: Baby Oliver arrived three weeks early. Kerryann had just returned from the hospital as Kenneth had been admitted with suspected appendicitis. A few hours later her waters broke and she was induced in hospital. Luckily, after some treatment, Kenneth was able to be at the birth.

THE BABY: Oliver is a great baby. He loves his bath and the flashing lights on his play mat. He’s still settling into a sleep routine, but is a pro with his food.

THE NAME: Both Kerryann and Kenneth liked the name Oliver. They did consider a few other names, but kept coming back to Oliver. ‘John’ is after Kenneth’s late granddad.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Oliver is a first grandchild for Kathleen and Brian Wilson of Falkirk, and he’s also a first for Liz and Frank Hughes of Bo’ness.

THANKS: The couple would like to thank the hospital and both sets of grandparents for all their help and support.
