The birth of Mason Batchelor

THE PARENTS: Mason’s parents are Allan and Cheryl Batchelor. Cheryl (27) is a clerical assistant and Allan (28), originally from Carronshore, is a warehouse operative, both work for Asda. They live in Slamannan and Mason is their first child.

THE PREGNANCY: Cheryl said Mason was a very good boy and she had no problems during the pregnancy except for a little back ache, but no major pains.

THE BIRTH: Mason was a planned C-section because he was a breech baby and arrived two days before his due date. Everything went to plan in the hospital where dad Allan was the birthing partner and he was great, despite his fear of needles. The whole procedure took around 40 minutes.

THE BABY: Mason has been a great sleeper for mummy since he was born and is out for up to nine hours through the night which Cheryl feels “quite lucky” about. Cheryl said: “He smiles and laughs all the time and loves his food, he’s a good eater too.”

THE NAME: Mason was a name that both parents just really liked and agreed on.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Mason is the first grandchild of Allan’s mum Isobel Cowan, dad and stepmother Derek and Janice Batchelor and Cheryl’s parents Linda and Ian McDonald from Larbert.

THANKS: Cheryl and Allan would like to thank all their friends and family and the maternity team for support.
