The birth of Kai-Xander Young
THE DETAILS: Kai-Xander Young was born on April 9 at 2.08 p.m. in Forth Valley Royal Hospital weighing 5lb 5oz.
THE PARENTS: Mum Eileen is from Denny, while dad Kai-Steve has lived in Polmont and Larbert. The family lives in Denny. Both are aged 29, web developers and are first time parents.
THE PREGNANCY: It wasn’t the easiest pregnancy, but Eileen kept her mind on the result and is delighted with her beautiful boy. Aquanatal classes in Cumbernauld helped.
THE BIRTH: Baby Kai-Xander arrived 11 days early, but very quickly. He had a bit of help on delivery using a small vontouse called a ‘kiwi’. He spent six days in neonatal charming the staff.
THE BABY: Kai-Xander has had quite a bit of colic so far, but he has settled for the most part. He loves to be tickled and likes to pretend to fly. He’s now full of smiles and enjoys going to baby yoga and massage classes.
THE NAME: Kai-Xander’s name was going to be Kal-Xander, but mum and dad had a change of heart. The Kai part follows Scottish tradition of first-born named after father and Xander was a name Eileen picked. The double barrel comes from Daddy, Kai-Steve.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Kai-Xander’s grandparents, Cathy McCormack of Denny, Evelyn Rimmer and Chris Spencer in Haddington and Kennie and Peggy Young in Dollar.
THANKS: To the midwives, doctors, neonatal nurses and housekeeping at Forth Valley Royal, particularly to the Tulip midwifery team. They did a wonderful job.
