The birth of Isla Nimmo

THE DETAILS: Isla Grace Nimmo was born on May 2, 2013, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital at 2.25 p.m. weighing 6lb 13.5oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Kristine MacGilp is 28 and works as a nursery nurse in Larbert, and dad Alan Nimmo is 35 and has his own business. Isla is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Grangemouth.

THE PREGNANCY: Kristine didn’t have an easy time of it. She had a lot of sickness, reduced fluids and was on crutches for four months with pelvic pain.

THE BIRTH: Baby Nimmo was two weeks early. Kristine went into labour during the night and soon after arrived in hospital to discover she was in established labour. Isla was born that afternoon, and Kristine did it all on gas and air.

THE BABY: Isla is a fantastic baby. She is really content and always has big smiles and laughs for her daddy. She likes to play on her playmat and bouncy chair, and loves George from Peppa Pig.

THE NAME: Kristine was convinced she was having a boy. But, just before Christmas, a private scan revealed that the couple were expecting a little girl. Kristine suggested the name ‘Isla’ which went down well with Alan and all the family.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Isla is third grandchild - but first grand-daughter - for Nancy Nimmo of Larbert, Erik MacGilp and Iris Ure, and Lesley Morrice.

THANKS: Special thanks to the staff at the hospital and all family and friends for welcoming Isla.
