The birth of Hayden John Bernard Murray

THE DETAILS: Hayden John Bernard Murray was born on May 17, 2013, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital at 3.39 p.m. weighing 6lb 1oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Carla (21) works at Ross Philip jewellers in Grangemouth, and dad Derek (35) is employed at Malcolm Allan in
Tamfourhill. Hayden is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Falkirk.

THE PREGNANCY: The pregnancy went smoothly to begin with, but after 34 weeks Carla was found to have high blood pressure. Hayden stopped growing after 35 weeks, and Carla was admitted to hospital after 37 weeks to be induced.

THE BIRTH: Hayden was born three weeks early. Carla said the birth was “very quick”. The birth was straightforward and dad Derek was at her side.

THE BABY: Hayden is doing great and is now sleeping through the night. Carla says he is “a very contented baby” who enjoys grabbing at things and playing with his toys.

THE NAME: Derek found the name Hayden online and liked it. Carla needed some convincing, but says she now loves it. John and Bernard were chosen as middle names in honour of Hayden’s grandfathers.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Hayden is a third grandchild for Lorraine and John McMahon from Middlefield, and also a fifth grandchild for Bernard and Margaret Murray from Laurieston.

THANKS: Thanks go to staff at Forth Valley Royal, both sets of grandparents and Derek’s sister Angela.
