The birth of Harris Sammy Ballantyne

THE DETAILS: Harris Ballantyne was born at 4.08 a.m on September 25, 2013, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, weighing 7lb 12oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Wendy (32) is a customer service adviser with Prudential in Stirling, and dad John (33) is a welder. Harris is the couple’s second child and the family live in Carron.

THE PREGNANCY: The pregnancy was okay. Wendy said that it all passed quite quickly.

THE BIRTH: Harris arrived in the world five days early. Wendy went into labour at home and stayed at home as long as possible before going to hospital. The baby was delivered less than an hour later, and the family were back home later that day.

THE BABY: Baby Ballantyne is a very happy wee baby who smiles all the time. He is great with his food and is settling into a sleep pattern. He loves it when people – including big brother Lucas (2) - talk to him.

THE NAME: The couple chose the name from a shortlist of four. The baby was nameless for four or five days until they settled on Harris. Wendy and John
thought the name was also quite unusual.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Harris is a fourth grandchild for Isobel and Alan Harley of Bainsford, and a third for Margaret and the late John Ballantyne of Stenhousemuir.

THANKS: Special thanks go to the staff at the hospital.
