The birth of Harper Lee Dunion

THE DETAILS: Harper Lee Dunion was born on February 18 at 9.49 p.m. in Forth Valley Royal Hospital weighing 8 lb 9oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Leanne Stewart (24) is a social care worker with Falkirk Council while dad James Dunion (24) is a tyre technican with ATS. Harper is a younger sister for Jameson (6) and Crawford (3). The family lives in Grangemouth.

THE PREGNANCY: Leanne had severe morning sickness early on in the pregnancy, but no other problems until shortly before the birth. She was admitted to hospital after suffering severe migraines, which was initially diagnosed as bleeding on the brain, and doctors thought she may have to be induced.

THE BIRTH: After Leanne was admitted to hospital, doctors noticed the baby’s heartbeat was beginning to drop and she was being prepared for a section. It was then decided to wait for the baby and, 10 minutes later, Harper was born. “It was a stressful half an hour,” said Leanne.

THE NAME: Harper was the one name that Leanne and James could agree upon. Lee was chosen by Jameson.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Harper is a third grandchild for Wilma and Ian Stewart of Grangemouth, and a ninth great-grandchild for Tom and Anne Dunion of Denny.

THE BABY: Harper is a happy, contented baby who has quickly adapted to the household routine.

THANKS: Thanks to the Rose team at Forth Valley Royal and to Leanne’s mum, Wilma.
