The birth of Emily Elizabeth McClenaghan
THE DETAILS: Emily Elizabeth McClenaghan was born at 6.06 a.m. on June 7, 2014, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital weighing 8lb 1oz.
THE PARENTS: Mum Amy (27) is a head sports development coach with Falkirk Community Trust, and dad Ross (31) is a joiner. The couple live in Redding and Emily is their first baby.
THE PREGNANCY: Amy admits that she was very lucky as she had a trouble-free nine months. She was never sick and, apart from feeling tired in the latter stages, kept remarkably well.
THE BIRTH: Emily was in no hurry to appear and Amy was taken into hospital on the Friday evening to be induced. Despite being told it could be a while before she gave birth, things all happened very quickly and baby arrived safely early on the Saturday morning.
THE BABY: Describing her daughter as “very content and a happy wee soul”, Amy said Emily is already sleeping through the night. Bathtime is baby’s favourite time of the day when she loves to splash in the water and make lots of noise.
THE NAME: Emily was a name the couple both liked and Elizabeth is after both their grandmothers.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Emily is the first grandchild for Jane and Colin Morrison of Falkirk and the fifth grandchild for Anne and Ian McClenaghan of Slamannan.
THANKS: Special thanks go to both sets of grandparents, particularly Amy’s mum Jane, for all their support and the Poppy Team at the hospital.
