The birth of Caoimhe Susan Martin

THE DETAILS: Caoimhe Susan Martin was born on October 17, 2013, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital at 10.26 p.m. weighing 7lb 3oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Siobhan Doherty is 24 and a management accountant in Livingston, and dad Keiran Martin (23) works in IT. Caoimhe is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Larbert.

THE PREGNANCY: Siobhan said that the pregnancy was fine until about 30 weeks when she started to experience a lot of pelvic pain.

THE BIRTH: Baby Martin was three days early. Mum went into labour naturally and then had a straight-forward delivery in the hospital. Dad Keiran and Siobhan’s mum Susan were fantastic birthing partners.

THE BABY: Caoimhe is a great baby who is very happy and smiley. She sleeps very well at night, often from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m., and loves her food!

THE NAME: Siobhan’s family have a lot of Irish roots and Caoimhe was a name she and Keiran really liked. Susan is after Siobhan’s mum.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Caoimhe is a first grandchild for Susan and William Doherty of Larbert, a first for Sandy Martin of Denny and a third for Rhona Leask of Reddingmuirhead.

THANKS: Special thanks go to the couple’s family and friends who have been a huge support since Caoimhe arrived, and also to the excellent staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
