The birth of Abbie and Lucie Smith
THE DETAILS: Abbie and Lucie Smith were born at Forth Valley Royal Hospital on January 27. Abbie arrived at 10.17 p.m. weighing 5lb 7oz and Lucie followed at 10.24 p.m. weighing 4lb 10oz.
THE PARENTS: Mum Jenni Alexander (25) lives in Bainsford and works in admin and sales, while dad Robbie Smith (19) is a technical adviser.
THE PREGNANCY: Jenni found out at eight weeks that she was having twins, and she was quite sick in the beginning. The middle of the pregnancy was fine, but, as Jenni got bigger, she found it more difficult.
THE BIRTH: Jenni went into labour at 36½ weeks and gave birth naturally. The babies were well, but Jenni needed a blood transfusion.
THE BABIES: The babies are excellent and doing really well. They are both good sleepers and eat well. Their different personalities are coming through with Abbie being content and happy, and Lucie looking for a bit more attention.
THE NAMES: Jenni and Robbie liked both names after looking through a baby name website and picked them together. Robbie decided who was who when they were born.
THE GRANDPARENTS: The identical twins are first grandchildren for Gillian Alexander of Carronshore and David Alexander of Carron, and David and Amanda Smith of Stenhousemuir.
THANKS: Jenni said she could thank a million people for all their help, but special thanks go to her mum, both families, extended family and friends and to all the staff at the hospital.
