The wedding of Jen Laing and Ally Pettigrew
THE COUPLE: Jen is 28, originally from Kincardine and works as a nurse at Yorkhill Hospital, while Ally is 39 from Edinburgh and works as a stationery supervisor. The couple live in Bonnybridge.
HOW THEY MET: The couple first met on a night out at Behind the Wall two-and-a-half years ago.
THE PROPOSAL: Ally popped the question after dinner at Behind the Wall. The pair went to the bridges at South Queensferry where Ally asked Jen to marry him. She was completely surprised but accepted and said the engagement ring was beautiful.
THE WEDDING: The wedding ceremony was held at Kincardine and Tulliallan Parish Church where 80 guests attended and there were a total of 160 at the evening reception at Beancross. Everything went to plan in what was a very relaxed celebration.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Jen’s chief bridesmaid was her best friend from nursery school Kelly Gardiner, and her bridesmaid was her friend from work Joanne Burke. Ally’s niece, 13-year-old Rebecca Hay, was the flower girl as was Ally’s daughter, six-year-old Laura Pettigrew. The page boys were Jen’s nephews Joshua (5) and Gary (4) Laing. Ally’s friend from school, Ross McDonald, was best man and the usher was Jen’s brother John Laing.
THE DRESS: Jen’s dress was a strapless, ivory taffata gown.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent 15 days in Kenya, which included a four-day safari trip.
