The wedding of Kirsty Beaton and Andrew Ure
THE COUPLE: Kirsty (26) is a reporter at The Falkirk Herald while Andrew (26) works with an engineering firm. They live in Falkirk with their West Highland Terrier, Jack.
HOW THEY MET: Andy was a regular in Rialto Bar and Kirsty worked there while at university. They got together at a party in 2008.
THE PROPOSAL: Andy popped the question on Christmas morning 2009 while walking Jack along the snowy canal. He proposed with a jelly ring and a more suitable one was then designed.
THE WEDDING: The couple were married at Glenskirlie Castle on June 17. Around 100 guests joined them during the day and a further 30 at night. The planned outdoor ceremony had to be cancelled because of the weather but everything else was perfect.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Kirsty’s sister Keighley was chief bridesmaid and Andy’s sister Jacqui Ure and friends Loretta Dunn and Alice Simpson were bridesmaids. Best man was Andy’s brother David and the ushers were Christopher Jackson and Craig Beaton. Andy’s cousins Jamie and Megan Haldane were the page boy and flower girl.
THE DRESS: Kirsty wore a white Dizzie Lizzie dress with a halterneck and crystal detail. The bridesmaids were in a 1950s vintage Vogue design and the boys were in kilts.
THE HONEYMOON: Andy and Kirsty spent seven nights in Mexico then went to Miami and travelled down the Florida Keys for a week.
THANKS: Thanks to both sets of parents for all their help and friends who contributed to the big day. Also to the staff at Glenskirlie, Suelise Bridal, Mary Campbell from Stag Boutique and photographer Mark Archibald.
