The birth of Clara Margaret Kennedy
THE DETAILS: Clara Margaret Kennedy was born on April 29 at Stirling Royal Infirmary at 2.45 a.m. weighing 9lb.
THE PARENTS: Mum Coleen Kennedy is 32 and a primary school teacher based in Bathgate, while dad Daniel Kennedy is an instrument technician who works off-shore. The family live in Lionthorn and Clara is the couple’s first baby.
THE PREGNANCY: Coleen said the pregnancy was fine, although she did suffer from suspected swine flu.
THE BIRTH: Clara was six days late when Coleen went into labour. She first experienced contractions on the Tuesday night and went to hospital on Wednesday, but Clara wasn’t born until Friday morning. She was eventually delivered by emergency section. Coleen missed the royal wedding as she had a few other things on her mind!
THE BABY: Clara is doing very well and is a very smiley, happy little girl. She loves a smiley face. She is also eating well and has recently started to sleep through the night.
THE NAME: Coleen and Daniel had liked the name Beth, but, just a few weeks before the baby was born, Coleen spotted the name Clara in a book and liked it, as did Daniel. Margaret is after Coleen’s late grandmother.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Clara is a fourth grandchild for Coleen’s mum and step dad, Anne and John Kelly of Falkirk, and a first grandchild for Doreen and Tommy Kennedy of Denny.
THANKS: Special thanks go to all family and friends who sent so many cards and gifts, and to the excellent Poppy team at Stirling Royal.
