This delightful two-bedroom home in Falkirk has been a labour of love for its current owners.

When Melanie and Tony O’Neill moved here six-and-a-half years ago, they knew it was going to take a lot of work to get it the way they wanted it.

But all the effort paid off, with the result being a fresh and stylish ground-floor apartment with bags of features to melt any heart.

Melanie said: “We had always lived in modern houses and we decided that we really wanted an older house and the style of living that went with it.

“The lounge sold it for us, we loved it and the fact that a single door led out to the a decking area, which is a wonderful place for socialising.

“But we knew the house was going to be a project – everything needed done.”

Although the couple bought the house in the February, they didn’t move in until May and had completed the majority of the work by the July.

Melanie said: “We replaced everything – new windows, new kitchen, new bathroom.

“I would say it was more of a labour of love for me than Tony!

“But when we had finished, we could stand back and look at it and we knew that was the way we had imagined it looking.

“Now I think it’s lovely.”

Throughout, this house boasts high-spec features.

The flooring in the lounge and dining kitchen are solid oak, and there’s a cool double shower cubicle in the modern bathroom.

The bedrooms are spacious, and the generous windows flood the house with light.

Melanie added: “The kitchen is very bright and we have a table by the window which is lovely for reading the paper or having a cup of tea.”

Now the O’Neills have decided to move, but it’s clear there’s been a lot of thought behind the decision.

Melanie said: “Our daughter has had our very first grandchild, so we are moving to be closer to her.

“But it will be difficult to leave it, and we thought about it for over a year before we decided.”

The beautiful home was only on the market for an hour before the first viewer came knocking.

Melanie said: “I think this home would suit an older couple wanting to downsize and have everything all on one level.

“But it would also suit a young professional couple as it’s in a great location for commuting to the cities.”
