An invasion takes place at the Bo’ness Hippodrome on Saturday, November 17, with a monster day programmed by the Hippodrome 100 Ambassadors group.
Classic, contemporary and cult films have been drawn together by the group, aged 18-30 and from across the district, as part of the cinema’s centenary celebrations.
At 11 a.m. King Kong (PG) stars in the original monster movie, which shocked 1933 audiences.
Mimic the first silver screen’s ‘scream queen’ Fay Wray in a spine-chilling scream contest at this family screening, and pick up one of 100 courtesy bananas!
Bo’ness Fair footage from the Hippodrome’s opening year, 1912, is also on show.
At 3.30 p.m. there’s a screenwriting masterclass with Kevin Lehane, the talent behind brand new alien movie ‘Grabbers’. Catch a ‘Grabbers’ preview showing at 7 p.m. including an introduction by Kevin, as the Hippodrome rolls out the red carpet for this horror comedy not due for UK release until next year.
And come dressed as a Summerisle local as monster day concludes with spooky 1970s classic The Wicker Man (15) at 9.30 p.m. – with prizes for the best animal mask!
Advance booking on (01324 506850) is recommended. Tickets are £5.85/£4.55 (King Kong – £2.25) or get 20 per cent off in a monster day deal when you buy for two or more events/screenings (subject to availability).
