When the opportunity came up to play Prince Charming at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, Kieran Brown jumped at the chance.

Getting the role would mean being able to spend more time with his family in Stenhousemuir over the Christmas period - and the chance to be in the pantomime he had watched every year as a child.

Kieran, a former member of Falkirk Children’s Theatre, was thrilled to learn he had the role and is now preparing for the curtain to go up on ‘Cinderella’ tomorrow.

Kieran (34) said: “We are currently in the middle of rehearsals and all finding ourselves cracking up constantly. It’s a hilarious script and the cast are great, I still can’t look at Gavin Mitchell and Gordon Cooper done up as the Ugly Sisters without roaring with laughter.”

With previous roles in West End shows ‘Wicked’ and ‘Les Miserables’ and tours which have taken him around the world, the actor is glad to be home in Stenhousemuir with mum Mary and dad Alan.

“I’m living at home during panto which has been great, I’m getting my washings done and my mum is even making me packed lunches every day - I’ll hate to leave!

“I’m based in London now and usually only get to come home on Christmas Eve then rush back down on Boxing Day so it’s great to spend so much time with my family and be in a show that not only did I love as a kid but that all my family and friends can come and see.”

Panto season for Kieran will last until January 6, with the cast doing 66 shows in five weeks but the December 8 performance will be extra special. Around 200 people are coming to see the show, with Kieran’s mum organising a bus from Falkirk and various other groups of friends coming through that night.

“I’ve no idea why every single person I know is seeing the December 8 show, there will be a lot of pressure to make sure it’s a flawless performance! It’s lovely to know there are people in the audience for you though and although panto is undoubtedly hard work, it’s also one of the best jobs you could ask for.”

‘Cinderella’ also stars ‘Chewing the Fat’ actress Karen Dunbar and Gavin Mitchell from ‘Still Game’ as well as comedian Des Clarke and runner up in ‘Over the Rainbow’ Jenny Douglas.

Tickets are available from.atgtickets.com priced from £9.

Kieran is also producing a festive cabaret at 29, Glasgow on December 23 at 9.15 p.m.

‘A West End Christmas in Glasgow’ features an all Scottish cast singing songs from musicals in an intimate setting. Tickets are available from the Post Office in Cow Wynd, Falkirk or from Kieran’s website, www.kieranbrown.com
