Falkirk drum festival is hard to beat

The drum fair is a must for all beat keepers

The drum fair is a must for all beat keepers

Drummers and those who like to keep the beat with good company will flock to Falkirk’s Scottish Drum Fair this month.

Taking place on Sunday, November 18, at Graeme High School from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., this DD Drums-organised event is the largest drum gathering held in the country for years.

David Dowell, DD Drums main man, said: “Our aim is to entertain, enlighten and inspire drummers young and old, novices to experts, and to further our goal of strengthening the Scottish drum community.”

Scottish Drum Fair 2012 will feature live performances from the biggest names in the drum world - including world-renowned recording artist and drum guru Craig Blundell - trade displays from the best in the music industry and a variety of drumming workshops.

The event will also include a Vintage Drum Fair - a skin thumping, cymbal crashing living museum of drum kit

history with a whole host of rare and vintage drum kits seldom seen together in one place.

David said: “We are also putting together the Premier Timeline Project - with Premier Drum Company celebrating its 90th birthday this year, we want to gather the largest collection of vintage Premier kits from every era of the company.”

To this end DD Drums need your help to put on the best show possible.

“We are putting out an open call,” said David. “For anyone who has an authentic vintage beauty, retro-refurb

project or interesting historical drum kit of any brand that could be part of this spectacular

live drum museum.

“It will also be a great chance to meet and chat with other vintage collectors and to share your knowledge with an appreciative audience.

“So pull the dust cover off of that hidden gem and get your kit out for the lads - and lassies.”
