This lovely modern villa in Wallacestone would make an ideal family home, says current owner Peter Brown.
He and partner Shona have lived in the house for three years, but now their teenage sons have left home it’s simply too big for them and they find themselves “rattling around”.
However, built just seven years ago and having been looked after carefully, it’s in excellent condition and ready to welcome a new family.
“It’s in a great location for a family,” said Peter. “It is so close to amenities – there is a primary school and secondary school within walking distance.
“It is also very close to Polmont railway station, so it is ideal for commuters to either Edinburgh or Glasgow – and it’s near a large Tesco supermarket.”
And at the end of a long day, it’s also a lovely relaxing house to return to.
Peter’s favourite spot is the large, kitchen which opens out on to decking through large patio doors.
“It’s a great place to sit and relax in the summer, or have family barbecues.” he said.
But while he enjoys sitting in the garden, he’s not so keen on spending all his time working in it, so he has transformed the garden into a maintenance-free zone, with artificial grass and large planters providing colour and interest.
As well as the kitchen, which is large enough for a table and chairs, there is a formal dining room which is another fantastic spot for entertaining. It boasts a large bay window that fills the room with light. “You could just sit there all night if you liked,” said Peter.
Another big plus for a family home is having two sitting rooms in addition to the four bedrooms.
“If the kids want to watch the football, they can do that in one room and we can watch something different in the other,” said Peter.
The space the house affords is a big factor as the rooms have unusually high ceilings for such a modern house.
“It’s a big roomy house,” said Peter. “I particularly love the size of the master bedroom – you don’t often get a room that size these days.”
The master bedroom boasts its own dressing room as well as a luxury en-suite bathroom and on a practical note there is plenty of storage space.
Another practical plus point is the double garage with an electric door.
“It really has everything a family could want,” said Peter.
