Catch up with Falkirk folk in far flung places
WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Stenhousemuir.
WHERE ARE YOU NOW? Salt Lake City, Utah.
WHY ARE YOU THERE? My new husband is from here and we decided to start our married life in America.
WHAT DO YOU DO? Voluntary work right now because I don’t have my green card.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN THERE? Three months.
FAMILY? My husband’s family is very big and been very welcoming.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE NOW? I like that it doesn’t rain here and the sense of community that the Latter Day Saints church promotes.
ANYTHING YOU DON’T LIKE? Although there isn’t much rain, there isn’t much humidity either and it is quite uncomfortable. I also don’t like that I can’t find steak pie anywhere!
BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THERE AND HERE? The influence that religion has in people’s lives is very apparent.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST FROM HOME? My family and Primark! I miss being around Scottish people because our national identity is very different to Americans’ one even though we speak the same language.
ANY MESSAGE FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS? I’ll be back.
