A home we’ll all miss

Jo-anne and Peter Hastie haven’t been used to living in a housing estate, preferring a more rural lifestyle for most of their lives.

But since becoming parents they found it so much more difficult to resist the attraction of a house that was safe, roomy, private and just a short walk from their children’s school.

The couple, who have been in this five-bedroom detached house in Larbert for three years, are now on the move again, returning to a more countryside way of life.

But the list of things they will miss about this house is a lengthy one.

Jo-anne said: “This is a very nice small estate and the house is in a cul-de-sac so there’s no through road.

“It means it’s a very quiet, private and safe place to live.

“Most of the public rooms are also at the back of the house which adds to the privacy, and the size and layout of the kitchen, lounge and dining room mean that it’s very flexible.

“Another great thing is the storage space.

“We have three cupboards downstairs and two upstairs and that’s before the fitted wardrobes in all five of the bedrooms.

“The wardrobe in the master bedroom, for example, is practically the entire length of the rooms so there is a lot of storage space.”

As the first and only owners of this Cala Lewis-designed home, Jo-anne and Peter, who are both academics in the veterinary field, have done very little to the proerty aside from paint the odd room.

Instead they have spent their time enjoying what the house has to offer, alongside their two children, Struan (8) and seven-year-old Morven.

Jo-anne added: “We really like the layout. The open-plan kitchen and living area is next door to the lounge and these rooms both have French doors which lead out on to one decked area. It’s great in the summer or when the family come round because it all feels interconnected and we really like that.

“The room at the front of the house is the dining room which is also very large.

“It’s only marginally narrower than the lounge, but it is a massive room and could also be used as a sitting or family room. It’s very flexible.

“And I love the kitchen. I will really miss the kitchen.”

The Hasties have also enjoyed many summer nights in the garden, with the sun filling the ground from late afternoon until the evening.

Jo-anne added: “This really has been built to be a perfect family home and we really will miss all it has to offer.”

This spacious house in the family-friendly Gilmours Place in Larbert has lots to offer.

With five bedrooms, two ensuites, an open-plan kitchen and family area and a sunny garden, this detached home is perfect for family life and comfortable, stylish living.

It also boasts a four-piece bathroom suite, fitted wardrobes in all its bedrooms, and a double garage.

And it’s finished to a high standard.

The kitchen, for example, features Karndean flooring, a glass hood, integrated appliances and French doors which lead through to the large decking area in the garden.
