Wedding of the Week ... Emma Cumming and Mark Ashmore

FALKIRK-BORN Emma is 38 and a teacher at a Glasgow special secondary school. Mark, originally from Birmingham, is also 38 and is a biology teacher and an opera singer.
THE COUPLE: Falkirk–born Emma is 38 and a teacher at a Glasgow special secondary school. Mark, originally from Birmingham, is also 38 and is a biology teacher and an opera singer.

HOW THEY MET: They met during a night out in Ashton Lane in Glas-gow's West End on April 3 last year. Emma, who is 5ft 10in, was attracted to Mark who is 6ft 5in.

THE PROPOSAL: Mark popped the question in the same restaurant where the couple had their first date. Emma immediately said 'yes'.

THE WEDDING: Emma and Mark were married on April 17 in St Michael's Parish Church in Linlithgow. There were 120 guests and another 20 for the evening reception in Norton House near Edinburgh.

THE DRESS: Emma wore a Maggie Sotero diamond white gown with bead and lace detail - and four–inch heels.

THE BRIDAL PARTY: Bridesmaids were Beverley Allan Clark and Suzie Young, nieces Elinor (12), Ishbel (11) and Kate Cumming (8), Rowan Cumming (7) and Mark's niece Megan Hughes (8). Best man was Martyn Parkes and his ushers were Hugh Francis, Ashley Hughes, Blake Fischer.

THE HONEYMOON: They are going to New York and Boston in July.
