TODAY is being observed as Grangemouth summer holiday, and all the places of business are closed.
As is usual on this holiday a number of excursions were run, notably one under the auspices of the co-operative society to Peebles which was attended by some 600 people, and one under auspices of the Gem of the Forth.
USING obscene language. For using obscene language at the junction of Grange Street and South Bridge Street on Saturday evening Peter Nibloe, labourer, Kelvin Street, was fined 10s or 10 days imprisonment by Provost Mackay at Monday's Police Court. It was explained that when the accused committed the offence he was the worst of drink.

THE 30th anniversary of the day man first set foot on the moon has brought back special memories for a Grangemouth man.
Jack Reid was part of the team which made sure the crew of Apollo 11 space mission made it safely on to the lunar surface on July 16, 1969.
The solar physicist who lives in Moray Place with his wife Barbara, worked with NASA from the mid-60s until 1973.
He was responsible for calculating the effect the sun's radiation would have on astronauts.
A NEW battle of Falkirk is set to be fought over a decaying monument slammed as 'appalling' by the provost.
Dennis Goldie has lashed out at the decayed statue of the Battle of Falkirk monument – built last century to mark the Jacobite clash in 1746.
The weed-strewn monument has been abandoned to the element.
