Girls night out is sure to be one to remember

Thousands of women ... and a few men ... have taken part in previous Moonwalks in Edinburgh.

Thousands of women ... and a few men ... have taken part in previous Moonwalks in Edinburgh.

There’s still time to join the fun at this year’s Edinburgh MoonWalk.

The Falkirk Herald aims to have the biggest team ever taking part in the capital event on Saturday, June 9.

Organised by Walk the Walk, this is the 15th year of MoonWalking and the seventh to take place north of the border.

The 2012 powerwalk has special significance for everyone in Forth Valley as the charity is providing a whopping £3 million to build a Maggie’s Centre.

Planned for the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, the centre will be a non-clinical facility providing support and information for cancer sufferers and their families.

Last year, Walk the Walk raised over £8.2 million from its events – £1.985 million from Edinburgh alone – and this year aim to surpass that total to continue the good work for cancer charities.

Already entries have flooded in and joining Falkirk Herald staff will be NHS employees, local authority workers and lots more, including those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Editor Colin Hume said: “The response has been wonderful so far, but we’re still looking for even more people to join us. Everyone who has previously taken part in a MoonWalk has said it is a wonderful occasion with a fantastic atmosphere.

“I’m sure The Falkirk Herald team will make a great contribution to the event and help raise lots of cash for this very worthwhile cause.”

Although entry to the Full Moon (26.2 miles) has now closed, there’s still time to sign up for the Half Moon (13.1 miles) ... but don’t delay!

Alternatively, entry forms are available from our offices in Manor Street, Falkirk, and the Gateway Business Park, Beancross Road, Grangemouth.
