The wedding of Gillian Oliver and Craig Porteous

THE COUPLE: Gillian is 34 and an English teacher at Grangemouth High, and Craig is 40 and works for the prison service. The couple live in Carron.

HOW THEY MET: Gillian and Craig first met on a night out at the Victoria Inn in Carronshore on Boxing Day 2006. Craig broke the ice by buying Gillian a drink.

THE PROPOSAL: Craig popped the question on Gillian’s birthday in 2010. She did have her suspicions as Craig had been asking her what kind of ring she might like.

THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on Boxing Day 2011 at the Park Hotel. Just under 40 people watched the couple marry, and a further 100 guests joined the celebrations at night. Gillian said the day was perfect, with her highlight being meeting her dad at the ceremony and seeing Craig.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Gillian’s bridesmaids were her younger sister Gayle Phillips, and her frineds Lisa Carr, Pauline MacLean and Cheryl Lawson. The best man was Craig’s 14-year-old son Conor. The flower girls were Gillian’s nieces Olivia (9) and Ava-Jane (four months) Phillips. Gillian’s eight-year-old son Nathan was the ring bearer.

THE DRESS: Gillian’s dress was an Augusta Jones ivory gown. It as strapless, very plain, and she also wore a chapel veil.

THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent two blissful nights at the Witchery in Edinburgh.
