Baby of the Week

The birth of Maizy Belle Thomson

THE DETAILS: Maizy Belle Thomson was born at 4.33 p.m. on November 15, 2012 at Forth Valley Hospital weighing 9lb 7.5oz.

THE PARENTS: Vikki Thomson (29), who is a youth care worker, and Iain Combe (27), who is a prison officer from Bonnybridge.

THE PREGNANCY: This seemed short as Vikki didn’t realise she was pregnant until 20 weeks. The remainder of the pregnancy went well.

THE BIRTH: This was horrendous, said mum Vikki. She was in labour for 36 hours and everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong. They considered a C-section and, in the end, it was a forceps delivery. Vikki needed a blood transfusion and was in hospital for a week after the birth.

THE BABY: Maizy is brilliant said her mum. She never cries, just eats and sleeps with smiles for everyone when she is awake.

THE NAME: This was a name that Vikki and Iain agreed on, and Belle is after Vikki’s mum, Isobel.

GRANDPARENTS: Isobel and Spud Thomson who are thrilled with Maizy.

THANKS: Vikki and Iain thank grand-parents Isobel and Spud, Uncle Gregor and Aunt Gillian, who were a great help to them, and the hospital staff for their care.
