The new minister in Airth says he is looking forward to his time in the village.
The Rev. James Todd, who was installed at Airth Church at the end of May, told The Falkirk Herald he’s been heartened by the warm response he’s had from people since arriving in the area.
And the father-of-seven, who comes to the area from a church in Fife, says he’s keen to get started.
He said: “I am looking forward to spreading the good news and the word of Jesus Christ, and I’m looking forward to getting to know the people here in Airth.
“There are challenges ahead as, of course, membership of the church is diminishing in this country, but I will be spreading the word and the good news.
“I’m very happy to be here.
“The people of Airth are very warm-hearted.
“They have not had a regular minister for some time and, although they did have an excellent locum minister, I think they feel a bit more settled now.”
Mr Todd (59) is originally from Larkhall but moved to Airth from Fife where he ministered between 1984 to 2000.
He’s also served as a minister in Caithness.
Although he has seven children, most of his family have grown up and moved out but his wife Christine and 13-year-old son Laurie will join him in Airth at the end of July.
Mr Todd added: “It has been good to be welcomed by the warm-hearted folk of Airth Church, also by the parish and Falkirk Presbytery.
“I look forward to walking in the Ochil Hills once again.
“I hope to be a friend to the people of the church and parish.
“I hope to see folk come to know the love of God in Jesus Christ more fully.”
