The sun shone on my wee boy’s special day
Only a fool would hire a bouncy castle for an outdoor birthday party in the middle of October.
And only the very lucky would end up being blessed with the kind of weather we experienced on Sunday.
The sun shone and the young party guests were able to spend the afternoon bouncing to their hearts’ content, with only a few bumps and bruises to show for it.
Us adults, meanwhile, were free to sit and relax - only occasionally having to leap into action to nurse a wound – while secretly wishing we could have a wee shot.
Friends and families all rallied round to ensure our wee boy turned four in style ... and boy did he enjoy it.
From opening the first present at silly o’clock to crawling into bed of his own accord (Postman Pat van tucked safely under his arm) at 8.30 p.m. there was a barely a minute when there wasn’t a huge smile spread across his face.
As parents it’s something we’ll remember forever, especially when we received the following text:
‘Your child is the most social, caring, kind, happy, loving boy. He is, and will become, an extraordinary person - not unlike yourself.’
Just a pity it was sent to my wife and not me!
