‘But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.’ (Philippians 3:7-8)
I once heard a preacher say there were two significant moments in his life – the day he was born, and the day he discovered WHY. Have you ever asked that question and come up with a valid answer?
When I was in primary seven in New Pitsligo and St John’s School, I remember having what I would describe as a ‘God moment’, when I asked myself that very question.
I was suddenly caught up in a moment when the universe seemed so big, and I seemed such a small speck within it.
What was life all about? How would my life unfold? When I was converted in my 20s, the question was answered.
Paul also discovered this – you can read about his amazing conversion in Acts 9, Acts 22 or Acts 26.
This experience caused him to evaluate his life. He later described his former way of life as waste or dung.
Finding Christ, or rather being found by Christ, was the greatest discovery of his life (Phil 1:21), it was a cause worth living and dying for, with the added bonus of death being further gain.
